David Green was admitted to Garden Villa in May 2009 after he suffered a massive stroke. When he came to us, he was unable to stand without the help of two to three staff members, and could not even dress himself.
Needless to say, after a life of self-sufficiency, there were times Mr. Green became very depressed. To help combat those feelings, our staff started a journal with him to track his progress.
The journal began the week that he joined us, and once a week after, we would write down the accomplishments he had achieved so he could look back and see how far he had come.
When Mr. Green was discharged, he had the following to say about Garden Villa:
“This place saved my life. It’s full of angels, and you are the guardian of the angels. I am eternally grateful for everything you did for me. Garden Villa is the best place by far in Bloomington, if not the state. You guys gave me 110 percent.”
While he was excited to return to life outside of Garden Villa, Mr. Green actually said he was a little sad to be leaving us – and the feeling was mutual.
He returned to us several times for outpatient therapy, and the staff kept in touch with Mr. Green through cards in the mail. He appreciated the correspondence so much, he actually kept it on the mantel of his fireplace at home.
In early September, just four months after his massive stroke, Mr. Green very proudly walked back into work on his own. To understand the magnitude of this accomplishment, Mr. Green was not only unable to walk when he came to us, but his family was told due to his stoke, he may not even pull through. So, for Mr. Green to walk through the door that day to report for work was one of the most important days of his life.

I really enjoyed my stay at Garden Villa. The food was absolutely delicious! The staff really gave me the attention I needed — and more. I would definitely recommend Garden Villa. I always said, “If I had to go to a nursing home, it would be here.”

I have nothing but good things to say about everyone who works at Garden Villa and the care I received. I had a wonderful time in the therapy department. The staff was always so attentive. They always answered my call light quickly, and I appreciated that very much. I’ll be sure to share with everyone I know how wonderful Garden Villa is.

When we visited P.W. at Garden Villa, we were favorably impressed by the staff’s demonstrated care and concern for their patients. One of the staff was truly a star. She was caring, concerned, involved, friendly, gentle and politely firm. At times, it appeared she could successfully be in several places at once! As we observed in our visit, she and her fellow staff excel everyday at their goals of high-quality care and compassion for their patients. You are very fortunate to have such a great staff.

My stay at Garden Villa was marvelous! My room was great and so was the food. I made sure to thank the staff every day for the extra care I received — especially the walks that my favorite staff member and I took before every meal. I will recommend Garden Villa to everyone I speak with!

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with therapy at Garden Villa. All of the therapists were great. I can’t even name a favorite! I think of how kind they all were and would be quick to recommend Garden Villa to everyone and anyone I meet.

After my stay at Garden Villa, I thought everyone would forget me. But when one of the staff called me soon after I left to check up on me, I was shocked! They truly care at Garden Villa, and this phone call made me realize I made the right decision to go there.

When I came to Garden Villa to begin rehabilitation, I was scared and really needed a best friend. My favorite staff member quickly became this for me, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. She and her colleagues really spoiled us rotten! I got a little teary-eyed when I left. Now that I’m home I’m doing outpatient therapy, but it’s nothing like the therapy care I received at Garden Villa. I really miss everyone there and will come visit the staff soon.
